In this episode of “Yates in Your Face” (#YIYF for short) Greg Yates challenges you to consider embracing the mystery of God’s plan as a leader; in fact, the more mysterious the better!
Have you ever wished God would just tell you the plan so you could help him execute it? We get frustrated when God doesn’t clue us in on all the details.
As a Christian Leader, you have an edge. You can trust God’s plan even if you don’t understand all of it. Trying to understand God’s plan cuts the power from it. Our perspective is limited. If you only want to settle for what you’re capable of, instead of what God’s capable of through you, you will never become the leader you were created to be. We try to plan our way to purpose, but what if your breakthrough comes from trusting God’s plan?
TRANSCRIPT FROM THE VIDEO:
So, you’re a Christian and you’re a leader. Let me just offer this word of advice…GET OVER YOURSELF!
I know you want God to ask YOU for advice, but something tells me that if you understand something, … well…. It must not be all that great.
Even Jesus tried to explain God’s plan but the Disciples never “got it” until after the fact.
Jesus plan and death were not understood. I think he knew if the disciples GOT IT, they’d never GET IT! Not only were they blinded by their own agenda, but it was a Covert Opp, on a “need to know basis.” There’s an enemy out there.
Still we complain. We’re Christian leaders, why doesn’t God tell us his plan! I say, the more mysterious and confusing… the better the chance God is doing something only HE understands! I want to transcend the normal and the mundane. I don’t want to lean on my own understanding! I’ve done that and so have you. We’ve got an edge as Christians but we keep trying to do it OUR WAY!
Sure… I get it… it’s your business and it’s all about YOU. We interpret all of life as it relates to US. It’s no secret, but it steals from us the powerful purpose for which we were created!
Why would we want to overwrite our purpose with something short term and limited by human perspective?
I heard your prayer, “Lord, bless ME so that in blessing me I can give you glory and help others!” I”ve got news for you. That’s not the way it was written and it isn’t the way it works.
If you only want what you’re capable of you will never become the leader you were created to be.
I say, BRING IT ON…The more confusing, the better!
