Momentum How To Avoid Procrastination

AUDIO: How to Use Your Fear To Create Success

by Greg Yates | Breakthrough Leadership

When we turned off the paved road, we knew we were getting close. I didn’t like the gravel and we were so tired an unexplainable anxiety made everyone grouchy. There was only one reason to push on. The destination we’d been anticipating was near. When we finally pulled in and lurched the car into park a strange sense of relief took over. Finally, it hit me. It was a good tired.

After years and years of school and residency, Ted was questioning whether he could make it or not. With only 6 months to completion, a sense of overwhelm and fear kept returning to attack him in his weakest moments.

What seemed logical to his friends and family, the simple matter of finishing his classes left him facing his greatest fears. He couldn’t explain the sludge every step seemed to force him through. He had envisioned accelerating and celebrating through the finish line. And, this felt more like scaling a vertical cliff to get there. To achieve the goal, he could hold nothing back.

The Gatekeeper to Change

Every success is on the other side of some good pain. Something must be overcome, like painful therapy after a surgery. You know the pain I’m talking about. The invisible barrier you want to turn away from but you know must be penetrated to reach the success you’ve dreamed of.

You’ve suspected it’s true and you’re right. There is always a degree of fear that occurs right before Breakthrough; And, you can use it as a milestone marking the home stretch in your race to the finish.

Have you ever noticed there is a huge difference between what’s possible and what’s actually experienced? Between human potential and human achievement? We are so overwhelmingly programmed to avoid pain that when the opportunity for breakthrough comes, the greatest warfare is with the voices in our head.

But what if the only way you know you’re on the right track is the presence of fear? What if you could understand in that moment, when you’re nearing breakthrough that FEAR is the gatekeeper? What if momentary fear, the last second unexplainable flash that you could still turn back, is the only clear evidence of crossing the line? Leaving what has been and Breaking Through to what WILL BE.

Using Fear as a Signal

The only guarantee, the only way to be sure you’re on the right path will be the presence of FAKE enemies and fears related to the unknown you’re destined to pursue.

Unless your fear is guiding you away from life threatening or irresponsible actions, let it be the familiar scarecrow that signals you’re right where you need to be. The fear of the unknown is the false barrier keeping you from abundance beyond your understanding.

Let the presence of fear create a knowing smile of resolve as you reach your Highest Created Purpose.

That’s breakthrough Leadership.
