In today’s episode of the Breakthrough Leadership Vlog (Video Blog – Season 01, Episode 02), Greg and Matt talk about three simple laws to create change. You can accelerate your Leadership results in 60 seconds or less. Why 60 seconds? Sixty seconds is all it takes when you know where to look. Use these laws to spot what’s holding your team back.

3 Immutable Laws of Change
- 1st Law of Change: Focus – Where is your focus? You have the power to choose where you apply concentration! Audit your time, energy, and money. What do these things reveal about your attention? Where are you investing? Are you spending 80% of your time focused on your mission?
- 2nd Law of Change: Patterns – What is your daily routine? What patterns are you consistently repeating? Your focus will dictate your patterns. If your patterns aren’t moving towards your goal, change your focus. Your patterns must support the area you’re investing your attention. Your choices must be congruent.
- 3rd Law of Change: Results – What results do your patterns produce? Are your patterns leading to impact? If you don’t like the results you’re getting, revisit Law #1 and #2. What focus will achieve your desired results? What patterns must be adopted to realize your goal?
This is a roadmap for change. All that’s required is to examine your choices about focus, patterns, and results.
These three laws are immutable. They’re like the Laws of Physics. Whether you acknowledge gravity’s existence, it doesn’t matter. Gravity influences you anyway. What goes up, must come down. These 3 Laws of Change will sway your ability to achieve your goals.
Each of these laws is a variable in your formula for change. You can move in a new direction, in less than a minute, by altering at least one of these variables.
These laws are mutually inclusive. They work together to create change. Your results flow from your patterns. Your patterns flow from your focus. You have the power to change your results by examining what you’re focused on. If your focus is correct, but you still aren’t realizing your results, examine your patterns.
Train yourself to visualize how these three laws work together to create change.
How Can you Apply These 3 Laws of Change?
Apply them at the Leadership Level – Ask yourself, who am I going to become? What am I willing to pursue? What’s the outcome I’m looking for?
Apply them at the Organizational Level – Are you willing to take action, to develop consistent patterns that support your focus? Talking about change, without specific action, will never result in change. Status quo is easy. Genuine change is painful.
Apply them at the Team Level – You must create buy in to each of the three Laws. Is everyone on the team focused on the same thing, investing in the right patterns, and realizing the right results? Don’t dictate change. After you share your vision as the leader, give time for acceptance. Your team must be involved in the decisions about strategy and implementation.
